Plan for wood protection plant in Norrköping

The Board of Bergs Timber have today decided to start preliminary planning measures to set up a wood protection plant in the port area of Norrköping.

The intention behind the impregnation plant is to create a plant in a strategically well positioned location for many saw mill customers.  The port of Norrköping is a strategic port of shipment for wood-goods and the group has identified an enhanced potential for wood protection treated products.

A declaration of intent has been signed with the Port of Norrköping for a long-term leasing of the plant on land adjoining the port.

It is expected that the plant, designed initially to be able to cope with 100 000-150 000 m³ wood protection treated wood-goods a year, rising subsequently to an annual 250 000 m³, will be operational by 2011.

Together with its subsidiary Bitus, Bergs Timber, with its plant in Nybro, is one of Europe’s largest wood protection treatment companies.

The first thing scheduled to happen is an advanced planning of the plant, an enhanced customer servicing ability and the commencement of a licensing process.
