Orrefors

Orrefors mainly produces spruce wood products with the focus on The Netherlands, Great Britain and Sweden. A lesser quantity of pine is also produced, directed to Sweden and North Africa. The majority of the deliveries are further processed by planing, partly in their own planing mill, partly by subcontracted planing mills.
The saw line was built in 1996 and has been thoroughly modernised during the last three years. In the summer of 2006, the rough sorting/trimming plant was rebuilt for about 20 MSEK. This means that the spruce production is sorted for length directly after pre-sawing. Thereafter, the timber package is dried and the package is taken directly to the planing mill without having to go by the trimming plant. In the summer of 2007, the timber intake was rebuilt and a new barking machine was taken into operation.
In the summer of 2008, the last step was carried out, when the saw line itself was supplemented and it was built into a straight saw line. This means that the capacity will increase from 150,000 m³ per year with three shifts, to 200,000 m³ per year with two shifts.
At the turn of the year 2008/09, a new double channel drier was taken into operation to cope with the increased sawing capacity from the saw line.
At the plant, there is also an effective and rational planing mill with cleaving line and briquette manufacturing, which was brought into operation in 2002.
